On the first day of Fitmas, Northern Bootcamp gave to me…

We’re proud of you for joining in the Twelve Days of Fitmas!

We hope you enjoy this full-body exercise revival before the holiday season takes over your waistline, and enjoy our suggested recipes for avoiding that Christmas binge while still enjoying delicious, festive meals!

Start off with a quick review of our introduction to the 12 Days of Fitmas. And remember to check out our blog throughout December to find out our other exercises and amazing recipes.

Day 1With no further ado, let’s get started with the First Day of Fitmas!

Our 12 Days of Fitmas exercises are designed to be short, sharp bursts of high-intensity interval training. They can be performed on their own when you have a spare few minutes, or strung together to form a complete routine.

Exercise

We’ll start off today with the ever popular plank. Do this one under the Christmas tree to feel the spirit of the season! The plank is a highly effective core workout.

PlankDay One Routine: Core I, Standard Plank

  • 30 second plank, three sets
  • Take a one-minute break in between the sets

Rest on elbows for an easier pose, or lift from your hands for a more strenuous workout. Remember to keep your back straight while holding the pose.

Need more challenge? Lift an opposing arm/leg in succession while holding the post to increase intensity.

Recipe

For many people, the amazing food we get to eat in December is one of the best things about Christmas, so we don’t want to take that away from anybody. However, we have brought together a selection of amazing recipes that are nutritious, low-fat, and gluten-free, in line with Northern Bootcamp’s guidelines for healthy eating. Don’t worry… these festive meals offer great flavour!
