FAQ

What do the boot camps involve?

Variety is the spice of life and also the best way to improve full body fitness. Exercise is not all about running as fast as you can and as far as you can. At Northern Boot Camp you will be introduced to a whole range of different ways to exercise from a studio, to a mountain, to a river, to a park, to the comfort of a sitting room! We have both indoor and outdoor facilities and sessions are designed around the latest evidence-based training techniques that will get the best results and also allow us to have fun. Classes include circuits, boxercise, interval training, TRX, tabbatta, core stability, pilates, swiss balls, functional resistance training, kettlebells and much much more.

What types of activity will I be doing?

Northern Boot Camp trainers are not only qualified in health and fitness but also in teaching in the great outdoors. This ensures that our fitness and weight loss boot camps are diverse, challenging and full of opportunity to kick start your lifestyle change. Our expert trainers use their vast experience to provide morning exercises that are unique and inspiring. The afternoons at boot camp provide the opportunity to engage in a specialist outdoor activity, from a canoe trip, mountain biking session, or a more extreme gorge walk where the only limitation is you! There is a range of indoor sessions too and we do have a wet/harsh weather plan, with access to both a functional gym and a health SPA, the options are endless.

How are the evenings spent?

We believe in value for money and while there will be opportunities to just ‘chill out’, we also offer the chance to increase your knowledge by incorporating seminars and discussions into our camps. Nutrition and diet is a key element to the camps and also key to long-term weight and muscle management and is therefore included as one of our seminar sessions. While the boot camps are challenging, there is also plenty of time to recover, distress and focus on you. Included in our camps are unique flexibility and relaxation sessions, as well as an optional massage and at least one free visit to a Health SPA.

How fit do I need to be?

Our BOOTCAMPS ARE OPEN TO ALL!! It does not matter what your shape, size, age or physical ability is you will be welcomed. You will have an initial one to one discussion with a trainer and the program will be tailored to you. So if you have never run more than 20meters before or if you regularly run 20miles it will be YOUR camp. If you are still unsure we now also have Low Impact camps. For more info on these, click here.

How long do they last?

All camps start in the evening (except low impact retreats, which start at 12noon on a Monday), which has been chosen for your convenience, to try and limit the time needed off work. Preferred arrival time is 7pm and train station pick ups are at 6.30pm. However, if you arrive after this time it is not a problem. We often have an evening walk at 8pm, but this is not compulsory. Camp close times vary depending on which camp. 1 day and weekend camps close at 5pm, 4 day camps close at 2pm and all other camps close at 10am on the final day.

What do I need to bring?

You will be provided with a Kit list prior to the camp. However, this will cover basic clothing only. All technical equipment will be provided. So long as you have suitable walking shoes/trainers and some jogging bottoms/leggings then you can attend! We have plenty of kit available to hire too, so you can order this in advance.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Our weight loss boot camps are designed to fit YOU. This means that you choose the room style you prefer. From a private en suite room to a quad room (also en suite) the choice is yours. The word camp is deceiving the accommodation is a 5 star holiday cottage, so please don’t expect bunk beds. For example, if you are attending with a friend then you can state this and request a twin room. The cost changes depending on your bedroom choice and there are limited places for each. So if you do require a single en suite it is advised that you book early.

How much do they cost?

Cost varies with Camp choice and accommodation choice. What we do keep constant is the guarantee that you will get real value for money. While our costs remain affordable, we do not compromise on quality. At Northern Boot Camp, we provide the highest quality and most diverse range of activities and more importantly we tailor these to each individual – not group. Our camps are personal and group sizes are small, ensuring YOU get plenty of individual attention and support making these the best value camps in the UK.

What’s included in the price?

Absolutely everything!! You will need no money once you have paid for the camp. Accommodation, Food, including snacks and all drinks as well as all technical equipment and transport once you are at camp. You will receive a kit list with basic items and we will provide everything else. The only additional costs are any goods that you buy from our shop, such as clothing or toiletries, any massages or physio consultations that you request and any kit that you hire from us, such as waterproofs.
