Beginners’ guide to using a suspension trainer system

The suspension trainer (sometimes known as the brand name TRX), is an invaluable piece of kit that carries a huge number of benefits for core strength and stability.

Suspension trainers also allow you to work large muscle groups at the same time, giving you a fantastic workout.

We use them regularly on our weight loss and fitness boot camps, because the level of difficulty can be scaled to suit the user. It relies on your own bodyweight, but you can adjust the stance to make it more or less difficult.

All in all, it’s a really flexible system that means everyone from outright novices to seasoned pros can still get a great workout.

We have also prepared a video that shows how to get started and how to set up your suspension trainer safely – we’ll upload this soon, so watch this space.

As with any technical piece of equipment, follow the instructions carefully, make sure you have warmed up thoroughly before using, and if you have any doubts or questions, it’s much better to ask an expert than end up injured.

These are just a few moves that you can use your suspension trainer for. There are wide range of other moves – if you have a particular favourite, do let us know via our social media channels.
