Name: Emily Case
Location: Godstone, Surrey
Weight before camp: 12.8 stone
Weight after camp: 11.13 stone and lost 12cm from my waist, Wahoo!!
Current weight one month on from the camp: 11.7 stone and now wear size 12 jeans for the first time 🙂
Reason for attending the camp: motivation for weight loss, not just for me but I wanted to create inspiration to help my family lose weight as well. A new social experience to meet other people, and get out of my comfort zone. To get off the sofa and enjoy exercise outside, to gain the confidence to get out there and do it!
Highlight of the week: The afternoon activities, especially the body boarding and coasteering, loved being by the sea!
Biggest surprise of the week: Completing the hike, and also enjoying the circuits and interval training which I had never done before. Meeting great people and having the best room mate who helped encourage me, thanks Mel.
Tough parts: Waking up on the second day with the worst aches and pain, and then having to run in the rain. The team helped get everyone through this though and encouraged us to work together. The sand dunes run was also tough, but felt such a sense of achievement for completing the route 6 times. Oh and burpees and press ups, still hate these.
Would, I come back: Definitely, in fact it’s already booked! And the best thing is that I am returning with three girls from the same camp for a reunion. The whole boot camp team are also planning to complete a half marathon in October.
Applying things I’ve learnt: Well where do I start:
1. I’ve gone wheat free and feel miles better – feel healthy, have more energy and no more bloating – love deliciously ellas cookbook. My fridge has never seen so much green! I don’t eat processed foods where possible, and am practically vegan except I can’t give up eggs.
2. Exercise- well the camp taught me to be brave so I’ve booked into a lot of activities.
12th July I’m running a 5k race for life
6th September I’m doing a 20k cycle ride
4th October running 10k in Hyde park
18th October running half marathon
6th December running 10k in Beddington
I’ve joined a local running club which gives me great motivation to run 2 to 3 times a week, and, I am planning to run the marathon next year.
In the last month I’ve done a rock climbing course, windsurfing course and horse riding!
I’m getting off the sofa and enjoying exercise, in fact I’ve hardly been to the gym as I’m loving being outside!
3. I’ve bought a TRX which gets used at least twice a week, I’m determined to be able to do a full press up and this is helping my upper body strength
4. I try fit in at least twice a week an abs session in the evenings, they are a killer but I can see a difference in my stomach definition.
We still can’t wait for next year’s boot camp ?
